Our History

The Church of Christ in Milton Keynes was established through the dedication and vision of three young former university students from Ghana: Bro. Douglas Mensah, Bro. Ato Nimoh-Brema, and Sis. Yvonne Nimoh-Brema. Their strong bond, formed during their university years and active involvement in campus ministry, laid the foundation for what would become a thriving congregation.

Before their arrival, an earlier congregation in Milton Keynes had unfortunately collapsed. Undeterred, the trio began planning to establish a new congregation after worshiping with the Stratford (London) congregation in December 2003. Their efforts bore fruit, and by early 2004, they started meeting for worship on Sundays in the home of Bro. Ato and Sis. Yvonne.

etermined to grow the congregation, they spread the word to fellow Christians in other cities. Within a few months, their group expanded with the addition of Bros. Marfo, Ben, and Appiah. United in their vision for a strong and vibrant church in Milton Keynes, the congregation moved to the Netherfield Meeting Place within three months. They also published an article in the Christian Worker Newsletter to announce the new congregation and invite support from other churches.

This outreach effort bore fruit, attracting visits from Christians in neighbouring areas. Among them was Bro. Greg Contell from Northampton, who regularly attended and generously donated 25 copies of Great Songs of the Church hymnals. This thoughtful contribution relieved members of the need to use handwritten hymn copies and greatly enhanced worship.

The congregation has been richly blessed by the Lord, experiencing both spiritual and physical growth since its humble beginnings. What started with three young members has blossomed into a thriving church community. Today, the Milton Keynes congregation comprises approximately 70 adults and 45 children and continues to grow in faith, fellowship, and service.
